How to discuss energy consumption and why manufacturers return heat to the process.
Heat can be reused
One industrial approach is to integrate a heat pump into the drying process. GEA describes this approach in its AddCool solution for spray dryers in the food industry. This is an example of a specific manufacturer's technology, not a feature of UTAL drying chambers.
Compare the same task
When selecting a unit, we suggest recording the starting raw material, load mass, initial and required final moisture content, cycle duration and measurement conditions. Comparing installed power alone does not answer how much energy will be needed to obtain the same quantity of finished product.
What data to request
Ask for the energy consumption over a complete cycle and its boundaries: whether warm-up, fans and auxiliary devices are included. Discuss heat recovery options, utility requirements and maintenance separately. The economic benefit should be calculated using your tariffs and loading; figures from another unit cannot be applied to the selected model without verification.
